Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior platform engineer to own a broad functional area, guiding the vision, roadmap, and execution. You will design capabilities using Kubernetes, Backstage, ArgoCD, and Terraform, and set priorities for the team while driving reliable releases and strong CI practices.

You will collaborate with the engineering org on architecture and integrations, applying deep cloud and systems design knowledge to deliver scalable, secure products.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years experience in production software engineering with Go, Python, C++, or similar.
• Experience with cloud technologies: GCP/AWS/Azure, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Backstage.
• Strong data structures, algorithms, and system design fundamentals.
• Excellent communication skills for customer requirements and design documentation.
• Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.
• Experience with microservices, CI/CD, and DevSecOps processes.
• 2+ years in a centralized developer platform team.
• Passionate about developer experience and user empathy.

Responsibilities

• Own vision, roadmap, and execution for a broad functional area and set technical direction.
• Design and develop capabilities using state-native cloud-open source components.
• Scope tasks and prioritize work for team members contributing to objectives.
• Drive quality with strong code health, monitoring, and frequent releases.
