Job summary
IonQ, Inc. in Boston, MA is seeking a Lead Integrated Photonic Simulation & Layout Engineer to drive photonic device design and PDK development for foundries.
You will own full-reticle tapeouts from floorplanning to GDS, collaborate with fabrication and test teams, and work on quantum photonic platforms including diamond photonics and ion traps.
The role requires a PhD in EE or physics (or equivalent), hands-on photonic layout experience, and proficiency with Python-based tools and layouts.
Qualifications
- PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience designing devices in photonic platforms and with photonic tools.
- Hands-on layout for integrated photonic circuits and full-reticle tapeouts.
- Proficiency with Python-based photonic layout tools and PDK workflows.
- Strong collaboration across design, fabrication and test teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead component design and layout for PDK development with foundries.
- Support design for quantum photonic technologies and platforms.
- Own full-reticle tapeouts from floorplanning through GDS and verification.
- Partner with fabrication and test teams to validate PDK components.
