Job summary

Baptist Health in Lexington, KY is seeking a Lead Phlebotomist to oversee daily phlebotomy operations within the Laboratory Services team. You will coordinate staff workflow, training, and quality initiatives to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

The role requires a High School Diploma, at least 1 year of related experience, and BLS certification (or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). This full-time position offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of job related experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; if not, must obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily phlebotomy workflow, staffing, scheduling, breaks, and coverage; ensure timely rounds and specimen transport; adjust staffing based on patient care needs; address daily personnel concerns; monitor safety and PPE; track quality metrics and action plans; support staff with patient care duties.
• Ensure timely recollection of rejected specimens, accurate LIS documentation of collection issues, and effective communication of concerns that may impact patient care.
• Coordinate the department’s training and competency program in collaboration with the Phlebotomy Educator and Preceptors.
• Oversee phlebotomy supply stocking, address patient and nursing-unit concerns, and provide input for employee performance evaluations.
• Work closely with laboratory leadership, nursing, and other departments to maintain efficient operations and high-quality patient care.
