Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certificate and license if applicable.
  • Ability to proficiently perform phlebotomy on patients of all ages.
  • Organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy professionally, competently and with compassion for the patient.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for all staff members and patients, including collecting and disposing of specimens in accordance with policies and infection control standards.
  • Ensure requisitions are completed properly with patient demographics, diagnosis, insurance and physician information.
  • Review Medicare ABN requirements when applicable and complete forms correctly.
  • Ensure MSP forms are completed when necessary.
  • Accurately collect all specimens necessary to fulfill lab orders.
  • Provide accurate communication to clients regarding lab tests.
  • Maintain draw station stock and cleanliness.
  • Inform supervisor of performance issues and schedule.
  • If located in a physician’s office, collect specimens for the client lab only.
