Job summary

Cardinal Health in San Antonio, TX seeks a Manager, Pharmacy to oversee LTACH operations for PAM Health sites. The role directs clinical and administrative activities, maintains inventory, and drives cost control while ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.

The manager will lead pharmacists and technicians, coordinate staffing, hiring, and performance management, and collaborate with hospital teams to optimize care and efficiency within the acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in pharmacy or PharmD.
• Licensed Pharmacist in Texas (good standing) or eligible for licensure.
• IV certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Hospital/Inpatient experience preferred.
• Pharmacist in charge or pharmacy management experience preferred.
• Ability to develop, implement and lead all aspects of pharmacy operation.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work on call.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, directs and evaluates clinical activities as delegated by the Director of Pharmacy.
• Plans, coordinates, directs and evaluates administrative activities as delegated by the Director of Pharmacy.
• Implements processes to comply with medicine handling regulations.
• Manages day-to-day activities of pharmacy technicians and monitors performance.
• In the absence of medicines, communicates with nursing, doctors and admin for alternatives.
• Maintains pharmacist certifications and database privileges.
• Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as staff pharmacist.
• Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and procurement.
• Leads hiring, onboarding and performance management.
• Manages internal workflows of acute pharmacy and staffing optimization.
• Participates in meetings and hospital committees.
• Assists in plans to lower costs and drive growth in acute pharmacy.
• Assumes responsibility for QA monitoring and end-of-month reports.
