Overview

Health System Pharmacy facilitates the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of pharmacy operations for Cardinal Health. It serves acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices, and retail customers. The unit provides customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality, and offers consultation to healthcare teams on medications, supplies, and related processes.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and evaluate clinical activities delegated by the Director of Pharmacy, including supervision of refill machines, database entries, and medication dispatch.

  • Maintain pharmacist’s certifications and database privileges for medical records.
  • Provide pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist.
  • Meet pharmacy inventory needs, place necessary orders, review supply levels, and procure alternative drugs to mitigate risks.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance management of pharmacy staff, including competency evaluations and documentation.
  • Optimize staffing and scheduling to maintain best‑in‑class operations.
  • Participate in meetings and provide insight to hospital committees to coordinate cross‑functional groups.
  • Assist in executing plans to lower costs, increase efficiency, and drive profitable growth aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Assume responsibility for Quality Assurance monitoring and completion of end‑of‑month reports.
  • Prepare for potential vendor credentialing and maintain eligibility for licensure in Texas.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Pharmacist in good standing in Texas or eligible to obtain licensure.
  • Minimum of 2 years in hospital pharmacy and preferably in hospital pharmacy management.
  • IV certification required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and lead all aspects of pharmacy operations.
  • Excellent communication skills—verbal and written—to interact with customers and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong planning, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Customer orientation, negotiation skills, and the ability to perform under emergency pressure.
  • Decision‑making authority and willingness to work on call or participate in an on‑call rotation.

Salary

Anticipated salary range: $111,500 – $175,340 (annual). Bonus eligible: No.
