Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Berkeley is seeking a senior PCBA design engineer to own the full lifecycle of PCBAs for high-power and hazardous systems, from requirements design through bring-up and verification.

You will work cross-functionally with System, Mechanical, Firmware, and Test teams to define, design, and test PCBAs while ensuring safety and compliance per UL standards, delivering robust designs and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or Master's with 5+ years.
• Proficiency in PCBA design ECAD software (Altium or equivalent).
• Experience with sensors, power electronics, processing, networking, and data acquisition.
• Knowledge of UL 991, 1973, 9540, 1998 safety/compliance requirements.
• Familiar with PLM, JIRA, and requirement management tools (JAMA).
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle of PCBA design from requirements to verification.
• Ensure safety, reliability, and compliance for high-power and hazardous systems.
• Create requirements, DFMEA/CFMEA, block diagrams, simulations, schematics, layouts, bring-up/test plans.
• Collaborate with System, Mechanical, Firmware, and Test teams to define and test PCBAs.
• Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of released PCBA designs.
• Document design concepts, bring-up results, and root cause investigations.
