Job summary

Form Energy is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to own the full lifecycle of PCBA design, from requirements to release, including DFMEA, bring-up, and verification. You will ensure safety, reliability, and compliance for high-power and battery systems, working with hardware, firmware, MEch, and test teams.

The role requires a strong background in ECAD (Altium) and experience with PCBAs and Electrical Systems under UL/industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field with 7+ years of experience
• Experience in battery or energy storage systems is a plus
• Proficiency in PCBA design with ECAD software (Altium or equivalent)

Form Energy is hiring a Staff Electrical Engineer to impact development and

validation of our groundbreaking battery technology. As part of our BMS

Hardware & Electrical System team, you will be responsible for the full

lifecycle of PCBA design — from requirements generation, component

selection, schematic & layout development,, release through vendor DFM,

bring up, and verification. You will work cross-functionally with mechanical,

firmware, and manufacturing teams to deliver PCBAs that meet the highest

safety and compliance standards.This is an exciting opportunity to help

What You’ll Do:

• Responsible for the full lifecycle of PCBA design — from requirements design release through vendor DFM, bring up, verification,
• Ensure PCBA designs meet safety, reliability, and compliance standards for high-power and hazardous systems
• Create requirements, DFMEA/CFMEA, electrical block diagrams, simulations, analysis, schematics, layouts, bring-up/test plans, and 8
• Work cross functionally with System Engineering, Mechanical/Electro-Mechnical, Firmware/Software, & Test/Verification teams to define, design, & test PCBAs and resolve Electrical System related issues
• Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of released PCBA designs
• Document Design Concepts, Architecture, Block Diagrams, Bring-Up/Test Results, Root Cause Investigations, and Decision Matrices

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience (battery or energy storage systems experience is a plus); OR Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in PCBA design ECAD SW Altium or equivalent
• Hands-on experience with sensors, power electronics (high voltage, high power, AC, SMPS, LDO), processing (MCU, MPU, SOM), networking (Ethernet, CAN-FD, isoSPI), on board communication (SPI, UART, I2C, JTAG), data acquisition (IO, ADC, DAC), and control systems
• Strong understanding of safety and compliance considerations in high-power and/or chemical environments
• Demonstrated experience designing PCBAs and Electrical Systems to UL 991, 1973, 9540, 1998 requirements
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance speed, rigor, and safety
• Familiarity with the SW including PLM (e.g. Arena or Team Center), product development SW (e.g. JIRA) and requirement management tools (e.g. JAMA)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
