Job summary

Northrop Grumman Undersea Systems in Annapolis, MD seeks an experienced Principal or Sr. Principal PCB Layout Design Engineer to join the Hardware Engineering Team.

Core duties include layout of PCBs and flex circuits, interface with mechanical and electrical engineers, and producing fabrication drawings and BOMs. Responsibilities cover schematic-physical integration, impedance control, and library maintenance, with focus on producibility and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years related experience or Master's with 3 years; additional 4 years could substitute a degree.
• Drafting and design experience of PCB layout and layer stack-up (analog, digital, RF, mixed signal).
• Knowledge of industry specs and design for manufacturing (DFM) rules for PCB design, fabrication and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of PCB design rules for 2-20 layers from prototype to production.

Responsibilities

• Layout components and route electrical conductors for complex PCBs and flex circuits.
• Interface with engineers to optimize component placement and routing for rigid, flex, and rigid-flex assemblies.
• Create drawings for bare PCBs and assembled levels, including part lists.
• Create and document data file outputs for fabrication and manufacturing.
• Review PCB documentation in PLM workflows and manage PCB engineering changes.
