Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Staff PCB Layout Design Engineer in Annapolis, MD to join the Hardware Engineering Team. You will generate PCB stack-ups, layouts, and associated drawings, while aligning with military specifications and industry standards.

Role requires CAD expertise (Mentor Xpedition), collaboration with engineers across disciplines, and ensuring producibility. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Drafting and design experience of PCB layout and layer stack-up (analog, digital, RF, mixed signal).
• Knowledge of industry specifications and DFM rules for PCB design, fabrication and manufacturing.
• US Citizen with ability to obtain a US government secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Layout components and route electrical conductors for complex PCBs and flex circuits.
• Interface with electrical and mechanical engineers for placement and routing.
• Design to electrical and mechanical requirements for producibility.
• Calculate layer stack-up based on industry standards and requirements.
• Generate drawings for bare PWB and assembled CCA levels and part lists.
• Assist in component selection to reduce supply chain risks.
• Create electronic data file outputs for fabrication and manufacturing.
• Understand PCB electrical and mechanical behavior to influence layout decisions.
• Maintain CAD libraries for PCB mounted components.
• Address technical queries with suppliers and review PCB documentation in PLM workflows.
• Generate and incorporate PCB engineering change notices.
