Position: Lead Patient Care Technician

This role supports our Inpatient Rehab Unit at the McCandless location. The position offers opportunities for growth within the UPMC Inpatient Patient Care Support Career Ladder. Salary and title depend on education and experience.

Work Schedule: Full-Time, typically Monday to Friday, 5:30AM - 1:30PM. Hours to be discussed during interview.

Hired candidates may need to attend up to two weeks of orientation at the McCandless campus of Passavant.

Responsibilities

• Support department changes and initiatives.
• Handle assignments and view problems as challenges.
• Maintain awareness of behavior's impact on department efficiency.
• Support quality projects and initiatives.
• Perform core nursing assistant duties: ADLs, point of care testing, vital signs, telemetry, specimen collection, dressings, EKG, bladder scan, and more. All competencies must be achieved.
• Report equipment issues.
• Communicate effectively with departments.
• Build professional relationships.
• Participate in unit activities like responding to call lights, transporting patients, etc.
• Receive feedback and identify learning needs.
• Improve skills and knowledge proactively.
• Assist in planning and prioritizing activities.
• Participate in self-review processes.
• Communicate clearly with the healthcare team.
• Understand cultural diversity and workplace issues.
• Ensure safety for patients and self.
• Develop productive relationships with colleagues and patients.
• Assist with patient procedures and activities of daily living.
• Support therapies and report patient status changes to RN.
• Provide patient and family instruction as directed.
• Apply and remove restraints as per protocol.
• Adhere to policies and safety procedures.
• Document accurately in medical records.
• Perform work efficiently and complete clerical tasks as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
