Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Principal Research Scientist I in PAT to lead a small team within Analytical R&D. You will establish and execute PAT strategies for synthetic molecule programs, supporting development through validation and manufacturing transfer.

Deep expertise in chemometrics, multivariate analytics, and spectroscopic methods is required. You will mentor staff, partner with Process Engineering, Drug Product Development, and Quality teams, and translate complex data into clear development

Qualifications

• Advanced degree with industry experience in PAT and method development across development lifecycle.
• Strong skills in chemometrics, model validation, and data‑analysis platforms.
• Experience leading PAT strategy and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a small team of PAT scientists and manage priorities.
• Develop and execute integrated PAT strategies for drug substance and product programs.
• Lead feasibility assessments, model development, validation, and technology transfer.
• Apply chemometrics to develop validated quantitative/qualitative models.
• Interface with Process Engineering, Chemistry, Product Development, and QA teams.
