Job summary

Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront is seeking a Lead Pastry Cook to join our culinary team, preparing high-quality pastries, desserts, and bakery items according to recipes and plating standards. This on-site role requires finesse in a fast-paced hotel kitchen and offers the opportunity to contribute to premier dining experiences on the Virginia Beach boardwalk.

The ideal candidate has hotel kitchen experience, strong pastry skills, and can work a busy service with speed and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Hotel experience preferred.
• Finger/hand dexterity to operate food machinery.
• Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 100 lbs.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per HEI Hotels and Resorts standards, keeping perishables at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up; assist in keeping buffet stocked.
• Return all food items not used on next shift to storage with cover/date.
