Job summary

Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach is seeking a Pastry Chef to lead the community bakery program, blending classical baking artistry with daily operations to deliver exceptional dining for residents.

You will scratch-bake artisanal breads, laminated doughs, choux pastries, and desserts, mentor staff, ensure safety and quality, manage inventory and records, and align with our values of respect, passion, and professionalism to support the dining team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in high-volume food production.
• Expert-level understanding of cooking techniques, menu plating, and ingredient management.
• At least one year of pastry team supervision.
• ServSafe certification and health/safety knowledge.
• Professional standards and clean appearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead bakery program including scratch-baked breads and pastries to ensure high-quality meals.
• Train junior staff and supervise the kitchen team per production and budget guidelines.
• Maintain food safety, inventory, and documentation to support financial goals.
• Ensure all food preparation follows recipes, timing, and plate presentation standards.
• Foster positive relationships with residents and staff and participate in dining services activities.
