Job summary

FUJIFILM Electronic Materials, U.S.A., Inc. in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Senior Particle Chemist to lead silica particle synthesis and surface modification for advanced semiconductor applications. You will design, synthesize, and tailor particles with precise size, morphology, and surface properties while guiding BEOL slurry development.

The role requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Materials Science and experience in CMP slurry formulation, polishing techniques, and metrology.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
• 1–2 years of semiconductor industry experience, preferred in FEOL/MOL/BEOL and CMP processes.
• Strong analytical and experimental capabilities with data-driven approach.
• Experience with silica abrasives, colloidal science, corrosion mechanisms, and electrochemistry.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, synthesis, and surface modification of silica particles for advanced semiconductor applications.
• Develop BEOL CMP slurry and buff chemical formulations aligned with customer needs.
• Conduct fundamental studies to understand slurry interactions with dielectric/metal films.
• Collaborate with engineering, lab staff, and cross-functional teams; provide technical consultations.
• Contribute to IP searches, literature reviews, and patent filings.
• Maintain hands-on lab involvement ensuring data accuracy and reproducibility.
