Job summary

Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation is seeking a Maintenance Ranger Lead for Douthat State Park. You will oversee daily park operations, assist with facilities upkeep, and mentor new staff while working with a diverse visiting public.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, operation of park equipment, and adherence to safety protocols in outdoor environments; wage/hourly position with seasonal aspects and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of the use and care of common hand tools and cleaning supplies.
• Ability to follow direction and take initiative.
• Ability to responsibly maintain and operate tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties and clean park facilities.
• Maintain grounds including mowing, weed eating, leaf removal, and litter pick-up.
• Operate motorized equipment such as trucks, trailers, and small excavators.
• Assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
• Lead and train new staff members.
• Must have a Virginia driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work outdoors.
