Job summary

Red Seal Recruiting Ltd. in DuPage County, IL seeks a Lead Packaging Maintenance Mechanic for a high-speed food production plant.

You will maintain and rebuild packaging and processing lines, diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults, and keep operations running during planned and emergency downtime. This role is the senior technician in the maintenance team, offering an hourly pay of $40–$55 with overtime up to 50 hours per week, modern equipment, and a strong team culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; AAS degree, technical certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
• 5-10+ years of maintenance experience in high-speed food packaging or related manufacturing.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting ability; no full electrician credentials required.

Responsibilities

• Keep high-speed packaging and processing equipment running across a large, multi-line plant.
• Rebuild and refurbish machinery to like-new condition during planned and emergency downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults on baggers, sealers, scales, and supporting equipment; fix them without external help.
• Handle electrical troubleshooting and repairs on the lines as part of daily work.
• Teach and mentor junior technicians, passing along knowledge.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks and log all work in the CMMS.
• Work alongside operations and engineering on improvement projects.
