Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Overhead Transmission Line Engineer in California to lead design work for HV overhead lines, including PLS-CADD modeling, routing, and structure analysis. The role covers specifications, drawings, and cost estimates, with mentoring responsibilities and potential leadership as projects grow.

Ideal candidates have a Civil or Electrical Engineering degree, PE/EIT licensure, 3+ years HV line experience, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional certification such as EIT and/or PE licensure is strongly desired.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with routing and design of HV overhead transmission lines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in 69kV to 500kV line design and knowledge of PLScadd/pls-pole tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform, lead, and oversee overhead transmission line design work including PLS-CADD modeling and line routing.
• Prepare construction specifications, hardware, and material for HV OH T-Line projects.
• Develop construction drawings and cost estimates for high voltage lines.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and potentially lead project teams as the role evolves.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.
