Job summary

Cogent Communications is seeking a hands-on OSP/Construction Project Manager to lead field activity across a multi-state region. You’ll supervise engineering and construction efforts, assess excavation plans, and coordinate with Real Estate, Contracts, and Operations to keep projects on track.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering background with 1–5 years’ management experience, and you’ll work in an in-office environment five days a week with a comprehensive benefits package and

Qualifications

• BS/BA in civil engineering or equivalent experience.
• 1-5 years of experience in outside plant engineering and construction.
• Experience managing construction or engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all network field activity on Cogent network.
• Lead complex projects across a multi-state region (4–11 states).
• Evaluate excavation/construction plans for conflicts with Cogent’s fiber.
• Negotiate changes to remove conflicts with fiber optics cables.
• Prepare cost estimates, scope of work, specs, and bids for OSP work.
• Supervise contract engineering and construction personnel for safety and standards.
• Coordinate with OPS, Real Estate, Contracts, and other teams.
• Maintain as-built fiber route drawings and coordinate changes.
• Interface with regulators for permits and approvals.
• Manage 3–5 projects per month costing $500K–$5M each.
