Job summary

Cogent Communications is seeking a field OSP engineer to manage network field activity across multiple states. You will lead major projects, coordinating with engineering, operations, and real estate teams, negotiating changes to excavations, and ensuring safety and construction standards are met.

The role requires 1–5 years in outside plant engineering and project management, with experience using CAD, GIS, and GPS survey tools.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Civil Engineering or equivalent with 1–5 years in outside plant engineering.
• 1–5 years in direct management of construction or engineering projects.
• Working knowledge of Cogent cable construction standards.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee network field activity across multiple states.
• Manage 3-5 projects per month with budgets up to $5M.
• Coordinate with operations, Real Estate, Contracts, and other teams.
• Ensure safety and compliance with construction standards.
• Maintain as-built fiber route drawings and permit approvals.
