Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Plymouth, MA is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to provide technical support for all operating room equipment, materials, and instruments. You will train OR staff, coordinate with surgeons and Central Sterile, and perform routine and ad hoc maintenance as needed.

The role requires a minimum of three years OR experience, proficiency with OR computer systems, and an approved Surgical Technologist training program. Associates degree or higher is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of approved Surgical Technologist training program or equivalent combined education and experience required.
• Minimum three (3) years related OR experience required.
• Must be proficient in using OR computer systems and/or personal computer applications in carrying out own position responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the OR Staff through planning, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling all operating room equipment, materials and instruments.
• Provide training to OR staff on proper use of equipment.
• Work collaboratively with surgeon office staff, OR staff, Central Sterile staff and outside vendors in coordination of OR equipment.
• Responsible for carrying out and/or coordinating routine and ad hoc maintenance and repairs to equipment.
• Function as a Surgical Technologist as needed and assigned.
• Onboarding of all new staff and students; provide an orientation rotation.
• Develop and maintain inventory par levels, review stock usage and process special orders as directed.
• Assist with preference card development and maintenance.
• Establish instrument set protocols and collaborate to revise instrument sets and improve utilization.
• Research requests for new and special-order equipment; assist with trial and evaluation of new products.
• Act as liaison between Central Sterile and OR staff.
• Create and maintain equipment reference manual for the service group.
• Conduct in-service training for assigned OR service group staff for new and existing equipment.

Education

Graduate of approved Surgical Technologist training program
