Job summary

Raytheon Technologies in McKinney, TX is seeking an experienced Optical Engineer to design, test, and deliver EO/IR and high-energy laser systems. The role emphasizes optical design, tolerancing, and collaboration with vendors for custom components.

You will contribute to concept through product tests, including alignments and diagnostics, with a focus on precision imaging and laser systems, while leveraging MATLAB/Python for data analysis.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of experience or a related advanced degree with 5+ years’ experience.
• Experience with optical design and analysis software (CodeV, Zemax, TracePro) including macros/scripts.
• Experience with optical alignment, testing, manufacturing methods, cleanroom environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, and deliver product capabilities for EO/IR and High Energy Laser systems.
• Support design, analysis, and development of airborne and ground-based imagers and laser systems.
• Create optical drawings and collaborate with vendors for custom components.
• Occasionally manage small to moderate projects including planning and documentation.
• Perform opto-mechanical alignments and testing, and support product tests and demonstrations.
