As a Staff Mechanical Engineer on our Optical Payloads team, you will lead mechanical design and integration of satellite payloads from concept to production, ensure interfaces with spacecraft structures, and mentor others while

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar.
• 10+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience maturing designs from concept to detailed drawings in satellite/launch.
• Experience on optical system mechanical design.
• Familiar with space systems design requirements.
• Experience leading small to moderate cross-functional teams.
• CAD proficiency to develop models and manufacturing drawings.
• Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 tolerancing.
• Must be a US Person.

Responsibilities

• Ensure payloads meet mechanical requirements across the program lifecycle.
• Lead mechanical design and integration of payloads into satellite structures.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to deliver designs, production plans, and test strategies.
• Design spacecraft mechanical structures using Creo.
• Create and manage engineering/manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Document design and analysis results in reports and presentations.
• Apply engineering judgment balancing performance, manufacturability, reliability, and schedule.
• Support manufacturing by conveying design intent and resolving issues.
• Develop tooling and ground support equipment as needed.
