Job summary

Melbourne Water is seeking two experienced Lead Operators (Sewerage Transfer) based at the Brooklyn Pumping Station to lead the safe, reliable operation of sewerage transfer assets in a complex infrastructure network. This role focuses on HV-enabled systems, technical leadership, and coordinating field activities to maintain high safety and asset performance.

You will supervise operational responses, plan maintenance and outages, and ensure regulatory and safety standards are met while

Qualifications

• Extensive experience operating transfer/distribution networks or equivalent large-scale mechanical/electrical plant operations.
• Knowledge of hydraulic relationships, pumping, odour treatment and mechanical processes.
• Ability to understand operational risks, alarms, isolations and malfunctions.
• Competence in IT and SCADA data analysis, monitoring and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe and effective operation of sewerage transfer assets and related infrastructure.
• Apply HV expertise to improve reliability and service delivery across the network.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to field-based teams.
• Monitor asset performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Manage planned and unplanned operational activities, including incident response.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.
• Support maintenance, outage planning and asset optimisation programs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for system resilience.
