Job summary

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans is seeking an experienced technician to operate and maintain pumping and control equipment critical to water and sewer services. The role involves advanced electrical and mechanical work on power generation and pumping systems, with a focus on reliability and safety.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED, six years of utility experience, a valid driver’s license, and specific licenses including Water Production or Distribution

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Six years of utility experience with power generation or frequency conversion or water pumping.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Successful completion of Civil Service's Leadership (MGMT 830) course.
• Water Production or Distribution Class II license.

Responsibilities

• Advanced skilled electrical and mechanical work in operating systems and machinery related to power generation, frequency conversion, potable water pumping, raw water pumping, and auxiliary related equipment.
• Monitor, operate, perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of water and sewer pumping and control equipment.
• Work includes shift assignment including nights, weekends and holidays; and related work as required.
