Job summary

Central Transport is seeking an operations supervisor to oversee a terminal dock section and lead up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock staff. You will ensure efficient freight handling and adherence to safety standards.

The role requires strong leadership, 50-hour work weeks, and the ability to multi-task while maintaining high service levels in a fast-paced environment. Experience in LTL trucking is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a team, preferably in transportation operations.
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience in LTL trucking.
• Strong leadership, including hiring, coaching, training and mentoring.
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service.
• High aptitude for technology.
• Ability to multi-task while staying detail oriented.
• Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to work 50 hours/week average.
• Able to work any shift including nights/weekends in any weather.
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations for designated section of the terminal dock.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedule.
• Utilize independent judgement to build loads based on labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers.
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hands.
• Monitor dock production and KPI goals.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers.
