Job summary

Central Transport is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee dock operations, manage unloading and palletized freight, and lead up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel. The ideal candidate will have prior management, dispatch, and dock experience in the LTL trucking industry and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing a team, preferably in transportation operations.
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience, preferably in LTL trucking industry.
• Strong leadership skills to hire, coach, counsel, train and mentor employees.
• Willingness to work 50 hours/week on any shift, including nights and weekends.
• Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations for designated terminal dock section.
• Manage unloading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight picking/sortation.
• Lead up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet a designated production schedule.
• Utilize independent judgement to build loads based on labor and freight availability.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring cube and weight of trailers.
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production and KPI goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with DOT/OSHA standards.
• Support a culture of excellence in service to customers.
