Job summary

CBRE Government and Defense Services is seeking a Lead Operating Engineer to plan and supervise daily and preventive maintenance tasks in a 24/7 facility. You will support operational readiness, coordinate with staff and contractors, and guide on-site personnel to maintain safety and continuity of operations.

Qualified candidates will have a stationary engineer license or journeyman certification, and at least one year of leadership experience in industrial/commercial settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience leading a team of technicians in 24/7 operations.
• Licensed Stationary Engineer with City of St. Louis Class I or Journeyman-level certification (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize, and assign daily work orders and PM tasks.
• Maintain operational readiness 24/7 by staying reachable and responding to urgent situations.
• Support CMM by communicating with staff, contractors, and management during duty hours.
• Provide on-site directions to bargaining unit employees when quick decisions are needed.
• Provide updates on equipment status, maintenance needs, and safety issues to management.
• Ensure adherence to codes and standards (TJC, NFPA, OSHA, EPA).
• Act as on-site point of contact in the absence of management while not having independent hiring authority.
• Perform PM and CM tasks personally as directed by the CMM.
