Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join the Nuclear Power Group in Chicago. You will work on the design and analysis of nuclear safety-related structures, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop deliverables and support project work.

Qualifications include an MS in Civil Engineering, 5+ years of experience, and proficiency with SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA, as well as ASCE/AISC/ACI codes. Ph.D.

Qualifications

• MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Five or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA.
• Proficiency with analysis and design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Application of knowledge in materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• Preparing design calculations, developing specifications, and supporting designers with drawing development on a wide range of engineering projects.
• Use of state-of-the-art computer and software tools to perform structural analysis under various loading conditions, including seismic and impact loading.
• Potential travel to client and vendor offices as well as project sites for design reviews, coordination, and field verification of designs.
