Job summary

Target is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Network Operating System (NOS) and software development. You will drive architecture, integrate Linux kernel and user-space components, and contribute to SONiC builds to deliver robust network OS images.

Collaboration spans hardware and software boundaries, including I2C and platform interfaces. You will troubleshoot complex issues, mentor peers, and set engineering standards while delivering scalable, secure solutions across the NOS stack.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong experience in C / C++ in a Linux environment.
• Working knowledge of Python and scripting (bash or similar).
• Familiarity with git, make, and basic build systems.
• Experience using Docker and understanding how containers work.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture for the Network Operating System product and own the implementation across Linux kernel and user space.
• Build, integrate, and debug software across the Linux stack and contribute to SONiC builds.
• Troubleshoot complex issues spanning software, systems, networking, and hardware.
• Mentor others and influence engineering best practices across the team.
• Plan, design, and guide testing, automation, and deployment activities.
