Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is hiring for a full-time Custodian I to maintain cleanliness in school buildings and grounds. The role may head night custodial duties in an elementary setting, supervise other custodians, and safeguard buildings.

Starting hourly rate is $16.79–$24.49. Requires GED or some high school; preferred High School Diploma and custodial/leadership experience. Regular attendance is essential; lifting up to 50 lbs is required. Benefits offered.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of school buildings and grounds; supervise other custodial staff.
• Secure building and dispose of trash; clean bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, gym.
• Mop and buff halls; clean the cafeteria after activities.
• Replace lights; restock paper towel, toilet paper, and soap dispensers.
• Clean and dust surfaces; wipe desks and chalkboards; empty trashcans.
• Sweep, mop, buff, and strip walls and floors; clean gym and water fountains.
