Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a custodial worker to perform routine cleaning and maintenance of school buildings and grounds. Training will cover cleaning tools, equipment and safety practices to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.

Essential tasks include cleaning cafeterias, classrooms, and restrooms, setting up for events, and securing facilities at the end of the day. GED or high school partially required; experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school is required.
• High School Diploma preferred; some custodial experience is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and work walking/standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria, tables, chairs, and mop areas after meals.
• Pick up trash in bathrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas; clean spills.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust rooms; prepare classrooms for the next day.
• Set up for PTA events, special meetings, and activities.
• Lock and secure classrooms and exterior doors at day end.
