Job summary

Lead Network Engineer at Tarrant County IT oversees design, installation, and management of the LAN/WAN infrastructure across county campuses. Focuses on fault tolerance, QoS, security, and VoIP integration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Access layer Ethernet switches for LANs, with fault-tolerant topology.
  • Install, configure, and maintains Distribution and Core layer routers/switches across 66 county buildings.
  • Design and maintain multi-story building networks using fiber, copper, and wireless tech.
  • Manage WAN connectivity including leased lines and microwave links.
  • Design, implement, and manage county WiFi networks (802.11x).
  • Manage VPN and remote access; configure RADIUS for VPN/WiFi.
  • Monitor network devices using management software and perform packet traces to diagnose issues.
  • Develop standards for equipment and protocols; propose new technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
