Job summary

Canyon County is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain the county-wide data and voice network. The role focuses on secure, efficient LAN/WAN/VLANs, VPNs, and NAC with responsibilities spanning from hardware upgrades to firewall configurations.

The position requires strong analytical and communication skills, extensive enterprise networking experience, and the ability to work independently or with IT teams. Evening/weekend support and local travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience in IT with network infrastructure
• CCNA/Network+ or equivalent training preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in CS/IS/SE
• Experience with LAN/WAN/VLANs and VPNs
• Strong troubleshooting and written communication

Responsibilities

• Co-design, implement, and maintain county-wide network infrastructure
• Administer switches, routers, and wireless systems
• Manage NG Firewalls, VPNs, and NAC for secure access
• Monitor, diagnose, and improve network performance
• Coordinate network upgrades and patch cycles
• Provide orientation to staff and assist with AV systems
