Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Network Design Engineer Architect/Lead for high-visibility DoD work across multiple sites, including Schriever and Huntsville. You will guidearchitecture and governance for a unified digital ecosystem, coordinating with government leaders and partners.

You will lead a team of engineers, drive baselines across Nexus, NSX, Versa SD-WAN, F5, and Infoblox, while enforcing security and RMF/STIG compliance in a multi-cloud environment.

Qualifications

• Must have 12+ years of general (full-time) work experience.
• Must have 6+ years of directly related experience designing and leading large-scale DoW networks across data center, WAN/backbone, campus/branch domains.
• Must have 1+ years in a management or leadership role.
• Expert-level knowledge of routing and switching, EVPN VXLAN, MPLS, QoS, IPv6, multicast, and network resiliency patterns.
• Experience implementing Zero Trust segmentation, 802.1X/NAC, identity-aware firewall policy, and FIPS cryptography.
• Familiar with hybrid/multi-cloud networking patterns with IL4/5/6 constraints; RMF/STIG compliance.
• Active DoW Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead Network Architecture and ARB governance; establish High-Level Designs (HLD) and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Oversee and mentor a multidisciplinary team of network engineers; manage design reviews and engineering deliverables.
• Architect scalable Data Center fabrics using Spine-Leaf, Cisco Nexus, and EVPN-VxLAN; integrate with VMware NSX/VCF.
• Design enterprise load balancing, traffic management, and SSL offloading using F5 BIG-IP for HA deliveries across hybrid clouds.
• Define secure WAN transport and SD-WAN strategies with Versa Networks in a DoW environment.
• Govern IPAM, DNS, and DHCP with Infoblox DDI in hybrid cloud orchestration.
