Job summary

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks a Multimodal Transportation Engineer (TE3) to provide advanced design and analysis in support of the North Central Region Planning Office in Wenatchee, WA. You will develop multimodal concepts, assess feasibility, and create refined cost estimates to guide improvements.

Responsibilities include performing analyses, documenting outcomes, leading planning studies, and coordinating with regional offices and stakeholders to advance

Qualifications

  • Transportation Engineering knowledge per current laws, standards, and guidance documents.
  • Active Transportation knowledge across pedestrians, cyclists, transit, and Safe Systems approach.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate tradeoffs in design decisions.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook; cloud services; CAD; scheduling tools.
  • Commitment to safety culture and continuous learning.
  • Willingness to mentor and lead within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical multimodal transportation engineering analyses for regional planning projects.
  • Document analysis outcomes clearly in reports, graphics, and presentations.
  • Develop, evaluate, and design intersection, roadway, active transportation concepts.
  • Lead planning studies, develop concepts, and provide cost estimates.
  • Prepare cost estimates considering structures, grading, environmental resources, and ADA requirements.
  • Evaluate active transportation improvements addressing identified needs.
  • Support community meetings and workshops at planning milestones.
  • Coordinate with regional offices and other agencies as required.
  • Collaborate within multimodal planning and design delivery teams.
