Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation seeks a Multimodal Transportation Engineer (TE3) to provide advanced technical design and analysis for the North Central Region Planning Office in Wenatchee.

The role involves developing multimodal transportation improvement concepts, conducting engineering analyses, creating cost estimates, and leading planning studies that address corridor and active transportation needs.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of transportation engineering principles, laws, regulations, and standards.
• Experience applying pedestrian, bicyclist, and transit design guidance (AASHTO/NACTO).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking while adhering to good practice standards.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Willingness to conduct site visits including overnight travel and extended outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical design and analysis for multimodal transportation projects.
• Develop multimodal transportation improvement concepts and planning studies.
• Create cost estimates and conceptual diagrams for proposals.
• Lead planning studies addressing corridor and active transportation needs.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support planning and design for transportation improvements.
