Lead Multi‑Axis CAM Engineer (Mastercam/SolidWorks)Location: Jerpbak Bayless — Solon, OhioJob Type: Full‑TimeShift: 1st ShiftA Day in the LifeYou arrive to a lineup of diverse, tight‑tolerance parts: a mill‑turn prototype in the morning, a 5‑axis production prove‑out after lunch. You review customer prints and SolidWorks models, map out strategies in Mastercam, and head to the floor to validate toolpaths, tweak feeds and speeds, and lock in holding strategies. By day’s end, you’ve solved a tricky ACME thread, mentored a machinist on setup documentation, and collaborated with engineering and quality to release a stable, efficient program into production. What You’ll TackleProgram intricate components for CNC mills and lathes using Mastercam and Smartcam.Translate SolidWorks models and customer drawings into optimized machining plans.Develop advanced multi‑axis toolpaths: 4‑axis, 5‑axis, and mill‑turn.Design end‑to‑end processes for prototype and low‑volume work.Select tooling, workholding, and cutting strategies to balance quality, cost, and cycle time.Run on‑machine prove‑outs; refine programs and eliminate bottlenecks on the shop floor.Diagnose machining, tooling, and code issues; implement durable fixes.Publish setup sheets and tooling documentation to support setup machinists.Mentor team members and share best practices.Partner closely with engineering, quality, and production. What You Bring8+ years of CNC programming (job shop background strongly preferred).Expert‑level Mastercam skills.Fluent in SolidWorks (model navigation, feature recognition, design intent).Deep experience programming multi‑axis mills and lathes.Strong blueprint/GD&T interpretation.Proven success with tight‑tolerance machining.Experience programming complex threads (ACME, buttress, custom).Independent problem solver with ownership mindset.Comfort editing post processors; macro/parametric programming knowledge.Exposure to quoting/manufacturability reviews. Background with automation or lights‑out machining.Tools, Tech, and PlatformsCAM: Mastercam, Mazatrol3D/2D CAD: SolidWorks, AutoCADVMCs: 3–4 axis (Fanuc, Mazak, Doosan, Makino); 5+ axis (Fanuc, Mazak)Lathes: 2–4 axis and 5+ axis (Mazak, Doosan)Core ProficienciesGD&T, CNC tooling, CNC programmingG‑code and M‑codePrecision measurement & hand metrologyAdvanced inspection & gage measurementMachine setups for production runsWhy You’ll Thrive HereHigh mix of complex, stimulating partsModern machines and current softwareTeam‑oriented culture that values craftsmanshipDirect influence on machining processes and outcomesBenefitsHealth, Dental, Vision insurancePaid Holidays401(k) / Retirement PlanOvertime opportunitiesTraining and advancement pathways
