Job summary

Athens Services is a local, family‑owned waste collection and recycling company that has been a fixture in the greater Los Angeles community for the past 60 years. The Heavy Equipment Operator Lead will supervise landfill operations, operate dozers, and coordinate loaders, excavators and trucks to maintain throughput and safety.

Typical duties include inspecting equipment, performing pre-trip and post-trip checks, enforcing safety rules, and ensuring efficient customer service during daily

Qualifications

• Must have five (5) years of experience in a MSW landfill.
• Ability to handle day-to-day landfill operations and act as site lead when supervisor is offsite.
• Provide outstanding customer service to the public, inspectors, and staff.
• Must read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead heavy equipment operations in the landfill.
• Inspect and pre/post-trip equipment; keep hazards away from waste streams.
• Maintain tipping table cleanliness and facilitate unloading for customers.
• Report unsafe situations to supervisor and follow emergency procedures.
• Overtime may be required; perform other duties as assigned.
