Job summary

Toyota North America is seeking a Lead Engineer in ML/AI to own production-grade AI systems on AWS. You will move from data and model design to deployment and monitoring, shaping technical direction beyond experiments.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered features, mentor engineers, and tackle data quality and model reliability. This is a U.S.-based role in Plano, Texas, with strong benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/ML/Statistics or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years software engineering with 2-4 years ML/AI in production.
• Strong ML fundamentals and deep learning architectures.
• Hands-on with LLMs, prompt engineering and RAG pipelines.
• Experience with AWS AI/ML services and SageMaker Bedrock.
• Proficient Python; familiar with PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain end-to-end ML pipelines from data to deployment.
• Lead LLM integration into product features with RAG and prompts.
• Choose approaches: Bedrock, SageMaker, classic ML or hybrid.
• Own ML features from design through deployment, testing and monitoring.
• Contribute to ML architecture discussions and tradeoffs.
• Debug ML systems from training to latency and drift.
• Write production-grade ML code and participate in code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers through pairing and reviews.
• Collaborate with Product/Data Science/FE/BE to deliver AI features.
• Address data quality gaps and ML tech debt proactively.
