Job summary

CatFace is seeking a Lead Production Engineer in Austin, TX to own the Minecraft mod ecosystem and production tooling. You will lead the TPA team, design reusable systems in Java (NeoForge) and Forge/Fabric mods, and embed AI-assisted development into daily workflows to deliver creative concepts to screen.

You will translate creative asks into technical plans, ensure reliability, and align with production leadership priorities while working onsite in our Austin office.

Qualifications

• Strong professional Java experience with maintainable systems.
• Hands-on Minecraft mods (NeoForge/Forge/Fabric) experience.
• Fluency in AI-assisted development using Claude-style tools.
• Experience leading a small technical team.
• Ability to translate creative requests for non-technical stakeholders.
• Authorized to work onsite in Austin, TX.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of CatFace's internal mod ecosystem.
• Design and build new tools and mods in Java (NeoForge) with AI-assisted development.
• Evaluate and refine existing tools to fit production needs.
• Translate creative asks into clear technical plans for non-technical staff.
• Ensure tools reflect the lead talent's vision and leadership priorities.
• Lead the TPA team: set direction and review work.
• Assess tooling and team structure as needs evolve.
• Test and troubleshoot before recording days for reliability.
• Own our AI development practice and keep tooling current.
• Evaluate emerging AI and Minecraft tech for improvements.
• Partner cross-functionally on scope, milestones, and timelines.
