Job summary

CatFace is seeking a Lead Production Engineer to own the technology behind Aphmau content production. You will design and build the Minecraft mod ecosystem, lead our TPA team, and serve as the bridge between production leadership and technical execution.

This hands-on leadership role requires writing Java and using AI-assisted development to deliver a durable platform that serves the Aphmau brand for years. Your success is measured by reliability and speed to screen.

Qualifications

• Strong professional Java experience with architecting maintainable systems.
• Hands-on experience building Minecraft mods (NeoForge, Forge, or Fabric) and deep Minecraft knowledge.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development (Claude Code or similar).
• Experience leading a small technical team, including periods of change or transition.
• Ability to translate creative requests into technical plans for non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort working independently and in a small team in a fast-paced entertainment environment.
• Excellent communication and a team-oriented attitude.
• Willingness to work onsite in Austin, TX.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of CatFace's internal mod ecosystem and reusable systems.
• Design and build new tools and mods in Java (NeoForge) with AI-assisted development as standard.
• Evaluate and refine tools to fit evolving production needs.
• Translate creative asks into clear technical plans and explain tradeoffs clearly.
• Lead the TPA team: set direction, assign work, develop skills, ensure timely delivery.
• Assess tooling and team structure as technical needs evolve.
• Test and troubleshoot before recording days to ensure reliability.
