Job summary

Bloom Energy seeks a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer specialized in Microgrid Modeling to lead advanced electrical and dynamic modeling of inverter-based resources, BESS, transformers, and distribution networks.

Based in San Jose, CA, this on-site role reports to the VP, Product Development and focuses on robust performance, stability, and grid-code compliance. The candidate will deliver model-driven insights, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support testing and field analysis to

Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
10+ years of hands-on experience in power system and microgrid modeling.
Proven experience with inverter-based resources and power electronics.
Familiarity with grid interconnection codes (IEEE 1547, NERC).

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and validate steady-state and dynamic models of microgrid systems.
Perform studies for grid-connected and islanded operation, including black start.
Conduct load flow, power balance, short-circuit, and transient stability analyses.
Use PSCAD and PSSE to evaluate system performance.
Collaborate with hardware, controls, protection, and systems teams.
Prepare technical documentation of modeling assumptions, results, risks, and limitations.
Engage with end users to answer questions and integrate models into studies.
Support factory testing, commissioning, and field issue analysis when needed.
