Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Microelectronics Semiconductor Manufacturing Engineer to join the Mission Systems Manufacturing Operations Engineering Team in Baltimore/Elkridge, MD. The role focuses on designing and refining SMT manufacturing processes for high-quality, rapid product delivery in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate should have strong technical leadership, experience in process control, and the ability to collaborate across multiple engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related STEM field; 5+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years; PhD path may be 1 year experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting specifications, parts lists, and engineering drawings
• Attention to detail with strong problem solving and analysis
• Ability to work 2nd Shift and obtain/maintain security clearance
• U.S. Citizenship required for government-related roles

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes related to SMT routing and manufacturing
• Troubleshoot and support complex manufacturing equipment
• Compile data and analyze manufacturing process for process control
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and implement process improvements
• Support operators and technicians through troubleshooting and training
• Monitor product yields and maintain program yield targets
• Report yield issues and corrective actions in program meetings
• Interface with manufacturing management, technicians, engineers, and program teams
