Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Engineer for Microelectronic Semiconductors in Surface Mount Technology (SMT). The role spans working across the Linthicum, MD site near BWI and the Elkridge, MD complex, driving manufacturing development for key product lines with cross-functional teams.

The candidate will lead manufacturing readiness, cost reduction, and process improvements, coordinating with design, program management, and operations to meet schedules and quality targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, with 5+ years in Manufacturing/Process Engineering or a Master’s with 3+ years of experience.
• Experience managing projects and leading people, with strong organizational skills.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for manufacturing engineering activities for the product within SMT cell.
• Collaborate with process engineering and other functions to define and execute manufacturing plans.
• Lead weekly meetings and monitor product performance, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities; develop ROI for new tech or processes.
• Specify new manufacturing equipment and ensure factory readiness for production.
• Document state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for designers.
