Job summary

American Advanced Management seeks an experienced microbiology supervisor to plan, organize, and oversee the Microbiology Unit, including Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Immunology, and related sections.

The role reports to the Administrative Clinical Laboratory Technologist and requires directing staff, maintaining quality control, and contributing to laboratory procedures and budgets.

Qualifications

• Experience: Two years equivalent to Clinical Microbiologist.
• California license as Clinical Microbiologist, Clinical Laboratory Technologist or CLS limited to Clinical Microbiology.
• Ability to plan, supervise and train staff in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Participates in complex analyses and evaluation of results.
• Instructs technologists and trainees in microbiology procedures and techniques.
• Maintains quality control and supervises record keeping and reports.
• Evaluates methods for accuracy, cost and clinical significance; updates procedures.
• Maintains supply and equipment control, orders supplies, and prepares budget requests.
• Represents the Laboratory at meetings and infection control activities.
• May collect specimens and assist in administrative coverage when needed.
