Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles seeks a Microbiology Supervisor to lead the microbiology section of the clinical laboratory. You will supervise CLS and phlebotomists, implement policies, train staff, and ensure quality control and timely result reporting.

You will validate new methods, oversee instrumentation, participate in proficiency testing, manage scheduling and performance evaluations, and partner with the Lab Manager to meet regulatory requirements and improve workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science required.
• 2-5 years Microbiology Clinical Laboratory Experience.
• CA CLS License or Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License required.
• 2 years leadership experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Microbiology department and supervise CLS and phlebotomists.
• Implement hospital and lab policies and ensure quality control throughout testing.
• Validate and implement new methodologies and instrumentation.
• Oversee proficiency testing, QC metrics, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and training.
• Collaborate with Lab Manager to meet administrative and financial goals.
