Job summary

KTVZ News in Central Oregon is seeking a Chief Meteorologist to lead the Local Alert Weather Team and shape coverage across broadcast, digital, streaming and social platforms. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in meteorology or atmospheric sciences, have at least five years of broadcast meteorology experience, and proven leadership and mentoring skills.

You’ll mentor staff, work with the News Director to define the weather vision, ensure accurate forecasts, and deliver engaging

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in meteorology or atmospheric sciences required.
  • Minimum five years of broadcast meteorology experience with leadership exposure.
  • Strong forecasting skills and ability to mentor a weather team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Local Alert Weather Team across platforms.
  • Define and guide weather coverage strategy with the News Director.
  • Ensure accurate, engaging forecasts on air, online, and social media.
