Job summary

TEGNA Inc. in Tyler-Longview seeks a Chief Meteorologist to lead the weather team and deliver compelling forecasts across TV, digital, and social platforms.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in meteorology with AMS Certification, 3-5 years on-air leadership, strong communication, and experience with multiplatform weather coverage. You will mentor the staff, develop severe weather coverage, and engage the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in meteorology.
• AMS certification required.
• 3–5 years of on-air experience with leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead weather team and set strategic direction for coverage.
• Build daily engaging weathercasts for on-air and digital audiences.
• Supervise schedules and mentor staff with regular feedback.
• Engage live with audiences across platforms during severe weather.
• Assist with recruiting and hiring for the weather team.
• Develop plans for severe weather coverage with management.
• Create original weather content for all platforms.
• Lead adoption of new weather graphics technology.
• Participate in community outreach and live station appearances.
