Job summary

TEGNA Inc. in Central Pennsylvania is seeking an experienced Chief Meteorologist to lead FOX43/WPMT’s weather coverage across broadcast, digital, streaming and social platforms. You will guide a weather team, develop forecasts and communicate with viewers during severe events.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Meteorology, AMS certification preferred, 3–5 years on-air leadership and strong multi-platform storytelling.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or related field required.
AMS Seal or equivalent certification preferred.
3–5 years of on-air meteorology experience with severe weather coverage.
Proven leadership and coaching experience preferred.
Strong on-camera presence and communication skills.
Experience across multiplatform news gathering and content production.
Proficiency with modern weather graphics and forecasting tools.
Experience creating content for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute FOX43's overall weather strategy across broadcast, digital, streaming, mobile and social platforms.
Lead and oversee the FOX43 weather team, including scheduling and coaching.
Deliver accurate and compelling weather presentations for multiple Central Pennsylvania communities.
Lead weather coverage of severe/high-impact events and communicate plans to the newsroom.
Create weather content that explains impact on viewers' daily lives and activities.
Expand the weather brand across FOX43+, FOX43.com, mobile and social platforms.
